“It really brought a smile to my face”

August 10th, 2020,

Friday Night School Online is expanding, ensuring that we can reach as many of our students as possible during these unprecedented times. We are so fortunate that teachers from our participating schools and Wednesday Night Tutors continue to connect in with our students, as they have done since last term.

As with all young people our students and tutors are missing seeing each other; Friday evenings at FNS are about more than just academic learning. Students and tutors catch up, talk about their week – learning and chat happen in parallel.

The recent addition of Year 12 tutors from Xavier College to FNS Online therefore brought much excitement. We are delighted to be able to once again offer a peer-to-peer model of learning. Students and tutors were very happy to see each other again.

“Being back at Friday Night School this week has been such a pleasure. Not being able to see my tutee over the last 4 months has been one of the things that I have missed most. I couldn’t have been more excited to be back at FNS, even though it isn’t the usual format. I still thoroughly enjoyed the experience and found it just as rewarding. Very much looking forward to the coming weeks.”

“Bringing back FNS, albeit online, has been one of the highlights of the past couple of weeks….. Amid a time of confusion, sadness and loss we are so grateful that we can go back to doing one of the things that we love. It really bought a smile to my face when sitting down and just talking to my tutee and catching up with him, it was a great end to the week and I can’t wait for our session this Friday.”

We are pleased to announce that more of our participating schools’ students are joining FNS Online, starting with Loreto Mandeville.
